Student Loans
Everyone should be able to attend higher education without the fear of crippling student loan debt. Consumers should be able to pay debts that are legitimately owed without falling prey to unfair, deceptive, or abusive collection or servicing practices. Further oversight of student loans is needed, so that consumers do not pay more than they originally owed based on hidden costs that occur after graduation or while pursuing higher education. CFA supports ensuring that existing cancellation programs (like income-driven repayment and public service loan forgiveness) work as intended by Congress. CFA also supports and promotes public awareness about legitimate student loan services.
